With the exception of Aurora's 6th-8th grades (due to technical difficulties), your student should've brought their first grading period report home with them today. Please go over this with your student and if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your student's teacher(s) and/or administration.

In response to the recent release of information from the Preston County Sherriff's Office: On Monday, October 21, 2024, Preston High School Principal Todd Seymour was made aware of a teacher possibly possessing a firearm on school grounds. An investigation into the matter was immediately launched, and Superintendent of Preston County Schools Brad Martin was made aware and advised administration at PHS on next steps, as well as the Sheriff's Department of the incident. Mr. McMillen was immediately placed on administrative leave. Due to this being an ongoing personnel matter, as well as being under investigation from authorities, no other information can be released at this time. Continued student safety and security is and always will be a top priority, and Preston County Schools will be evaluating and re-evaluating its protocols to deter and prevent future incidents.
