Congratulations to our Coach of the Year Winners. Throughout this week, we recognized our Service, Teacher, and Coach Winners of the Year, with the county winners being named next week, where we'll be surprising them live. These individuals were nominated by staff for going above and beyond in their roles and duties to make their workplaces and our students and staffs lives better. We appreciate all their efforts and can't thank them enough for what they do.

This afternoon, thanks in part to the Preston County Chamber of Commerce and PHS Students and Staff, there were 30 vendors on site at PHS for a student and community career fair. This presented an excellent opportunity not only for our students, but for locals to connect with local businesses about current and future employment opportunities. We are so thankful for the continued partnerships with the Chamber and our local businesses.

Help our nursing students get their sticks in!

Upcoming Important Dates relating to days off or early dismissals:

May Menus:
You will notice multiple cook's choice days, which will also be each day in June, so no menus will go out for June as all are cook's choice. Cook's choice are used to either be efficient with inventory to limit on waste, or to try new items, or bring back old favorites. You will also notice that there are two "pre-packaged" days. These shelf stable meals will be tested by students, with a survey for students to follow. In the future, these will be utilized for field trips, brain freeze days and emergencies when there may not be staffing. These meals DO meet USDA school lunch requirements. If utilized more in the coming years, on those days, schools will still also provide salad bars, or other supplemental items. As always, if any questions or concerns as it relates to school meals, please direct those to Justin Hough, Director of Child Nutrition and Wellness, at jhough@k12.wv.us.

At this time, internet and phone services are down at all district schools and central office. Frontier has advised that this is a wide-spread issue in WV and another state. We have not been provided with an eta on a restoration of service. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Today, during Military Signing Week 2025, 11 of our 2025 PHS Grads (10 in attendance), were honored and recognized for their commitment to join the United States Armed Forces. Recruiters from each branch were on-hand to recognize these awesome individuals who have answered their nation's call, and participated in a ceremonial signing. Frank Vitale, Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army, was the events keynote for the ceremony. PCS is proud of each of these students and wish them the best on their upcoming journey.
