For those interested in playing MS Girl's Basketball (Grades 6-8), tryouts will begin being held on Thursday November 2nd, from 6-7:30. Players will need their physical and proof of insurance that evening, as well as bring a water bottle.
Our School is Hosting a “College Colors Day!”
In celebration of West Virginia’s statewide “College Application and Exploration Week,” our school is hosting a “College Colors Day!”
Students and staff are encouraged to wear the colors of their favorite college or university, or to wear their favorite college gear.
Our “College Colors Day” will be held on Friday, November 3rd.

The form, if your child earned the incentive, ONLY needs to be returned if you choose for them not to participate. Any questions can be directed to Mr. Hough.
1st 9 Weeks’ PBIS Reward
Tuesday, October 31, 2023
Tomorrow, October 31st, students who have earned their PBIS Reward for the 9 weeks will be given the opportunity to participate in fall-themed classroom parties in the elementary classes, a Halloween-themed, school appropriate movie in grades 4-8, and then an illusionist show, featuring Extreme Illusions and Escapes from Josh Knotts. Students earn points daily for behavior and meeting classroom expectations. Students were made aware of these expectations and the goal prior to the points start-date.

If your student earned the incentive and you choose for them to opt-out, please sign and return this form tomorrow, October 31st. Although, they will not be a part of the remediation group, that is the room where they will need to go, but rather than do the additional assignments, they can use their school devices or read. All of PK-3 will be participating in their classroom activities. Their incentive part is solely the illusionist show. Grades 4-8 who don’t meet expectations will report to the remediation room at 11:06 for the remainder of the day, with those elementary reporting at 11:45 for their showtime, then back to their rooms at 12:30. 4-8 will be watching a movie from 11:06-1:00, then reporting at 1:05 for their :45 min show.

Just a reminder, for Red Ribbon Week tomorrow, we're crazy about being drug-free. It's crazy socks and/or hair day. Hope to see you at your craziest tomorrow, but not too crazy. Remember it's still school.
We will be having quarterly attendance incentives this year at Terra Alta East Preston, with the first occurring (tentatively) on November 27th as a trip to the movies. The criteria for this incentive, as well as the 3 others, is 95% attendance to school, or no more than 2.5 absences (excused or unexcused). Students on extracurricular or school-related trips or events, such as the Buckwheat Festival will not be penalized. However, even with a doctor's slip or parent note, no more than 2.5 absences will qualify for the trip. We understand that students get sick and that's not their fault, which is why we will be resetting each 9 weeks and offering up 4 incentives, so that way if a student misses out on one, they have 3 other chances to earn the others. If you have any questions or concerns, please direct them to Mr. Hough or Ms. Baker.

Red Ribbon Week continues tomorrow. Just a reminder, tomorrow, we'll be 'putting drugs to bed.' It's everyone's favorite - Pajama Day. Get comfortable, stay comfortable, and wear your school appropriate pajamas to school. Just no sleeping. See you then.

Next week we're celebrating being Drug and Tobacco Free with our annual Red Ribbon Week. We hope you join us in keeping our pledge and yours to remain drug and tobacco free, while also having some fun and dressing up with us. Beginning with Monday, the 23rd, it will be Camo Day, Tuesday the 24th, Twin Day, Wednesday the 25th Pajama, and on Thursday the 26th Crazy Sock and/or hair day. Let's have a fun week.
