The United States Constitution, Americaβs most important document, stands as a testament to the tenacity of Americans throughout history to maintain their liberties, freedoms and inalienable rights. And, Constitution Week is celebrated annually during the week of September 17-23 to commemorate its history, importance, and bring attention to how it serves still today.
This celebration of the Constitution was started by the Daughters of the American Revolution. In 1955, DAR petitioned Congress to set aside September 17-23 annually to be dedicated for the observance of Constitution Week. The resolution was later adopted by the U.S. Congress and signed into public law on August 2, 1956, by President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Constitution Day and Citizenship Day on September 17 is the central event, recognizing the signing of the Constitution in 1787 and honoring new and naturalized citizens.

There has been an uptick this past year across the state and county of drivers attempting to, or passing stopped school buses. This is a major safety concern for the students of Preston County. The link below is a video and news story that broke last spring when a student was nearly hit in Kanawha County, WV. We urge all residents of Preston County to look out for and support our students and bus drivers by following the law. Always stop for school buses. It is not just the law - it is a matter of life and safety. Thank you.

Preston High School had a powerful visit from WVU medical students with C.A.T.A.L.Y.S.T. (Community Action Team Accelerating Learning in Youth in Science and Technology)! These future doctors brought real human organsβincluding hearts, lungs, brains, and bonesβfor our students to explore up close. Through hands-on stations, they shared important lessons about heart attacks, broken bones, vaping and smoking risks, energy drinks, stroke symptoms, and more. Students were also able to ask questions about medical school, anatomy, and health. Huge thanks to the C.A.T.A.L.Y.S.T. team for inspiring our students and making science and health education come alive!

After conferring with 911 involving the traffic accident in the Bruceton area, all Bruceton area students at Preston High will be released at 11:20am. Buses will go to Bruceton School to pickup students before starting their afternoon run. With the backed up traffic, students may arrive home later than normal. Bruceton school parent pickup will begin at noon prior to the buses arriving. Officers are on site to assist with traffic in the area. Thank you for your patience in this matter.

On Sept. 11, 2001, America was forever changed. It has been 24 years since the attacks, but that tragic day, which served as a true test of the American spirit, will be remembered always. So on this day, we observe Patriot Day and all that it representsβwe honor the value of life, those we loved and lost, our countryβs resilience, and the strength of the American spirit. Even the smallest act of service, the simplest act of kindness, is a way to honor those we lost, a way to reclaim that spirit of unity that followed 9/11. When Americans lend a hand to one another, nothing is impossible. Weβre not about what happened on 9/11. Weβre about what happened on 9/12.

Attention, Juniors and Seniors: Per Section 9528 of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, schools are required to release students' names and contact information to military recruiters unless the parent or 18-year-old student opts out. There is an "Opt Out" form posted on Schoology that can be filled out if you do not want your name released to military recruiters.
