Parents: On Wednesday, April 13, juniors will be participating in the SAT School Day exam, which serves as the statewide exam for West Virginia high schools. Additionally, sophomores will be taking the PSAT 10, and freshmen will be taking the PSAT 8/9 on that day. All juniors, sophomores, and freshmen should bring a calculator to school with them on April 13 to use on the calculator portion of the exams. Preston County Schools is accepting applications for substitute cooks, custodians, and aides through the end of the week. Interested applicants need to visit the job posting site at https://prestonboe.tedk12.com/hire/index.aspx
In addition, the required classes and testing for each of these jobs are scheduled for this week with the class for custodians beginning at 8 AM and for cooks at 10 AM at the BOE Boardroom on Thursday, April 7th. The class for aides is scheduled to begin at 8 AM at the BOE on Friday, April 8th.

The Grandfamilies Program in Preston County provide educational workshops
that provide support to grandparent caregivers. They will cover the day-to-day
challenges that happen while raising a grandchild.
The program is free to attend and will be held in the evening for two hours. See picture for dates, locations and times

Preston County Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay for tomorrow, Monday, March 28th. Maintenance, mechanics, & custodians report on a regular schedule, & all other students and staff will report on a 2-hour delay. Preston County Schools wanted to communicate about the issues associated with a series of bus cancellations, specifically recent cancellations of the bus servicing the Bull Run and Sunny Hill areas of Masontown. At this time, the district is experiencing a significant shortage of substitute drivers that has been further taxed with multiple driver medical leaves, a recent resignation, and additional day-to-day absences. Preston County Schools is attempting to cover as many routes as possible using all available resources with the Transportation Director, multiple mechanics, and employees in other service classifications driving on a nearly daily basis. The recent vacancy in the West Area is currently posted and a course to certify additional substitute drivers is ongoing but is a timely process. Attempts to rotate available substitute drivers to the current unfilled route will be made and the transportation department is looking at other options to try and remedy the situation as soon as possible. We greatly apologize for the current circumstances and appreciate your ongoing patience as we work through these difficult issues.
