Kingwood Elementary wrapped up the month up October with contributions to our larger community while having a good time! Last Tuesday, staff and students paid $1.00 to wear pink. All proceeds benefited the Betty Puskar Breast Care Center in Morgantown. A celebration was held in the gym where there was a sea of pink, an informational video about the center was shown, and the $420 check written to the center was revealed/presented. A special thanks to PE teacher Kylie Phillips for organizing the event! No two days are alike, and each day brings an opportunity to learn something new at Kingwood Elementary! Last week, each homeroom class in grades PreK through 4 designed a safety container for their pumpkin in an attempt to keep it intact after a fall from a raised fire truck ladder! This made for cross curricular learning, teamwork, and creativity inside our classrooms and outside in our parking lot. Two fourth grade classrooms, Mrs. Uphold’s and Mrs. Zigray’s, had pumpkins that survived the drop! Congratulations! Thank you to the Kingwood Volunteer Fire Department for donating time, manpower, and resources! Thank you to Kingwood Walmart for donating the pumpkins for this event! It takes a village, and we have a wonderful one! We'll see everyone tomorrow!

Kingwood Youth League Basketball Sign-Ups begin on November 6th.
The Preston County Consolidated Middle School Wrestling Team (Squires Wrestling) will have two informational meetings along with sign-ups on Monday, November 4, 2024, and Friday, November 8, 2024, at 6:00PM at the new wrestling facility at the Preston High School Campus. KES would like to congratulate all of our students for their hard work during the first grading period! During the first iReady diagnostic testing window, students in grades 1-4 were challenged to score +/- 20 points from their May 2024 scores, and many were able to meet or exceed this goal!
With the exception of Aurora's 6th-8th grades (due to technical difficulties), your student should've brought their first grading period report home with them today. Please go over this with your student and if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your student's teacher(s) and/or administration.

November's Breakfast and Lunch Menus
There is a new item in November for lunch which resembles the McRib Sandwich, as well as trying out boneless wings with a variety of sauces for our students to try to see which dipping sauces they like. We will also be trying out a breakfast burrito. Feedback from the survey was appreciated and taken into account, and from December on, all menus will be based on a majority of the surveys favorites, and removal of those items a majority didn't like or wants less of. Next week is RED (Really Excellent Decisions) Week at KES! On Monday, we will show school spirit by wearing school apparel. Tuesday is western apparel day. Wednesday is red day. On Thursday, we will say BOO to bad choices when we wear school-appropriate costumes. Let's have fun as we learn about good decision making!
