Our Knights' Football Team will not only be representing PHS in their season opener at home, but the WV Army National Guard in the kick-off to the WVARNG Gridiron Series. This team was chosen as they show grit, determination, and represent the Army's values every time they take the field. So let's pack Knights Stadium this Friday and show Hampshire and the state what being a Knight is all about.

This week's #PrestonCountyReads focus. Each week, we'll be posting different tips to improve your child's reading. Be sure to include the hashtag on any posts, images or videos you'd like to share of your student working on their skills. Remember, numerous studies have defined that 15-30 minutes of reading a day will help your child improve their literacy, and even for adults will support brain health for a lifetime.

Reminders: Morning bus room is for early buses ONLY. Parent drop off begins at 7:15AM. When parking on the Fireman’s Field, please try to do so in the graveled areas only. Please do not enter our parking lot with a vehicle between 7:15-7:45 AM and 2:15-2:45 PM. Thanks for helping keep our students safe!

Thank you to the bus drivers, board of education members, law enforcement officers, and health-care professionals who took time out of their schedules to help Stomper and the staff at Kingwood Elementary welcome students to school on Monday morning!

KES welcomes PreK to our building starting TOMORROW! We are so EXCITED to have our newest Stags with us!

Kingwood Elementary, along with local community organizations and stakeholders, welcomed back students and their families last week with a Back-to-School Bash hosted by our PTA. Meet and greets with teachers and other activities were held on campus followed by roller skating at the Civic Center. This was a fun way to start the 2024-2025 school year, and we look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!

Kingwood Elementary would like to thank our PTA for organizing two campus-wide clean-up days last week! Their ideas, put into motion by the families, staff, community members, and even students who participated helped make our facilities shine as we started opening doors to 1st through 4th graders this past week! A total of 11 indoor and outdoor projects were completed.

2024 Knight Night Relays Information: Saturday, August 24th @ PHS 5:15-9:30. (Please see images below)

STOMPER and his friends had a BLAST with all KES students who attended last night's open house! It's going to be a fun-filled day with first- and second-grade students!

See you bright and early in the morning, first-graders! We enjoyed meeting everyone this evening and can't wait to spend the day with you TOMORROW!

Don't forget that KES will be rolling into a new school year with skating tonight at the Civic Center from 6-8PM! Gain FREE admission after visiting your teacher(s) at KES from 5-7PM! Community organizations will be present with information and activties, and Kona Ice, concessions, and raffles available for purchase.

Fourth-graders had a WONDERFUL first day of school today! Mrs. Hayes, Mrs. Zigray, and Mrs. Uphold look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday, August 26th!

KES Families: We have made a change to our Back to School Splash tomorrow evening! Due to anticipated cooler weather conditions, we will be Back to School SKATING at the Civic Center from 6-8PM instead of swimming at the Kingwood Pool. Teachers and other organizations will still be available at KES from 5-7PM.

Good evening Preston County. Just a reminder that tomorrow begins our staggered start week. Tomorrow we welcome back our 4th, 5th, 11th and 12th grade students. Remember, school breakfast and lunch are free for all students, and we encourage all of you to take advantage and get fueled up for your day. See you tomorrow.

Just a reminder for all parents and students of the vaccination requirements to enter school in the state of WV. These are for all students. Please contact your local health department if you have not done so already to get these scheduled to avoid any unnecessary absences as we begin this school year.

KES looks forward to welcoming back students this week! Please visit our school website and Facebook page for updated drop-off and pick-up procedures. Remember that drop-off is from 7:15 - 7:30 AM and dismissal begins at 2:25 PM.

Our related arts teachers are EXCITED to have students back at KES starting TOMORROW! See you bright and early, fourth-graders!

KES Families: In an effort to enhance the safety and security of our students as well as comply with county guidelines concerning the presentation of ID when signing out children, we will be changing our afternoon Parent Pickup procedures as well as eliminating Price Street Walkers. Effective next week, families will park at the funeral home or Fireman's Field, report to the sidewalk by the gym, present ID to a staff member, provide student name(s), and then follow the flow of traffic to retrieve students and exit campus. Those who have formerly been Price Street Walkers will also follow these procedures. See the attached map for traffic flow clarification. Those riding the bus from CPMS/PHS and meeting parents on the Fireman's Field or other designated location will still be able to do so as they have done in the past. Thank you in advance for helping to keep our students safe!

Preston County Schools would like to thank the following sponsors for their opening session donations: Silver Eagle Security & Facility Management, Clear Mountain Bank, Ray Thompson - State Farm, A-Plus Literacy, and Gordon Food Service. We appreciate you supporting our Preston County Schools' Staff.
