Thank you to all of our hard working Preston County School principals! Principal Appreciation Day - May 1st.

Monday, students in grades 3-8 will take the English/Language Arts component of the West Virginia General Summative Assessment. It's important for kids to get a good night's sleep beforehand and eat breakfast, whether at home or at school, before taking the exam. Please make sure students are on time to school. Also, students need to also ensure their laptops are fully charged before coming to school. While these tests are important, we understand that this is just one of many academic measurements of a child's progress and that there are things that no test can measure such as character, responsibility, empathy, kindness, determination, creativity, and more.

Mrs. Quinn's class just finished the novel Because of Winn Dixie. Today to celebrate, they had a surprise Winn Dixie party complete with their very own Otis, aka Tracy Waugh. #SchoolOfChampions #GoodRhingsHappenHere

7th grader Nolan Rosenberger has been an assistant in Mrs. Hagedorn's first grade classroom during reading stations this school year! He has become so attached to our kids that he even surprised one student on his birthday by bringing a gift and card! The kids then returned the surprise on Nolan’s 13th birthday today! Today, Friday, May 3, is designated as National School Lunch Hero day. Preston County Schools would like to take this opportunity to recognize the hardworking professionals in our school cafeterias. Thank you for all you do!

Our band and choir students did a phenomenal job at their performance tonight! A big shout out to Miss Rexroad and Miss Harvey for all their hard work putting together the concert!

Our elementary and middle school student councils spent time after school today rebuilding our gardening beds, cleaning up the walking trail and basketball court, and more! The last day for Bruceton After-School Explorers in grades 3-5 is Thursday, May 2nd. The last day for Bruceton After-School Explorers students in grades K-2 is Thursday, May 9th.

You can still register your child for next year's pre-K here at Bruceton. Just stop by the main office to pick up an enrollment packet or call 304-379-2593 for more information.

Tomorrow night is our annual spring band and choir concert. Join us in the gym beginning at 6:30. Admission is free.

PCS students in grades 3 - 8 will participate in state testing May 6 & 8; grades 5 & 8 only will also take a science test on May 10. Make up tests will be May 7, 9, & the week of May 13th.

We will be placing the final donut order tomorrow at noon. If anyone still has orders left to turn in, tomorrow is the last day.

It was a great day for Bruceton at the Preston County Track Championship on Monday. Josie Higginbottom is the County Champion in Shot Put and Discus. She also broke her own school records in both. Christian Humberson set the school record for both the 100 meters and the 100 meter hurdles. Tyler Parks was the 6th grade High Point scorer of the meet. Levi Beeghly placed 2nd in the boys Shot Put 3rd Place scorers: Callen Knox- Discus, Tyler Parks 1600 meters, Christian Humberson 100 Hurdles and 200 Hurdles, Lane Clark 400 meters, Girls 4x100 meters (Miranda Poe, London Casteel, Alissa McMahon, Eileen Parks), Boys 4x100 (Shawn Lyons, Canaan Edin, Levi Bryner, Noah Belanger) 4th Place scorers: Christian Humberson 100 meters, Eileen Parks 800 meters, Lane Clark 800 meters, Christian Humberson High Jump, Girls 4x400 meters (Miranda Poe, Kelsey Jenkins, London Casteel, Eileen Parks). 5th place scorers: Miranda Poe 400 meters, Paxton Berger 200 Hurdles, Tyler Parks 800 meters, Bryan Zeigler 400 meters, Callen Knox Shot Put. 6th Place scorers: Bryan Zeigler Discus, Tyler Parks 400 meters, Lane Clark High Jump, Paisley Schnopp Discus. 7th Place scorers: Noah Belanger 200 meters, Paxton Berger 800 meters, Colt Spiker 1600 meters, Colt Young Shot Put

Brittany Foley Thomas Memorial - 5th Grade Track & Field Challenge Preston County Schools will be hosting the Brittany Foley Thomas - 5th Grade Track & Field Challenge on Monday, May 13, 2024. The meet will be held at the Dr. John Trenton Track & Field Facility at Preston High School. Below is the schedule of events. 9:00 a.m. - Long Jump and Softball Throw 9:30 a.m. - 100 Meter Dash 10:00 a.m. - 400 Meter Dash 10:30 a.m. - 50 Meter Dash 11:00 a.m. - 200 Meter Dash 11:30 a.m. - Lunch 12:00 p.m. - Cross Country Run 12:45 p.m. - 4 x 100 1:15 p.m. - Depart for home NOTE: Times are approximate.
