Preston County Schools are now closed for today, Wednesday, December 8, 2021. Students do not report and all extra-curricular activities are cancelled for today. Maintenance, mechanics, and all AM and PM custodians, including cook/custodians report on a regular schedule and may depart two hours early from their shifts. For the week of Dec. 6 - 10, all students, staff, and visitors at West Preston School will be required to wear a face mask or shield.
This mandate is determined by our current number of positive cases and quarantined individuals. Based on the BOE mask mandate, if 7% or more of our students/ staff are quarantined, we are required to return to wearing masks the following week. 7% of our school community equates to 51 people. We currently have 53 people quarantined.
Our school numbers will be reevaluated each week to determine when the mandate can be lifted.

General Summative Test Results and the SAT Test Results. The WVDE is providing an individual video score report for your student as part of a statewide pilot program. An email was send to your child's email address this afternoon (11/30/21) for you to access it and/or your personal email address if you have one on file. Preston County Schools was recently awarded funding from the E-Rate Emergency Connectivity Fund to help provide improved internet access to students and staff members with either inadequate or no home internet access. The school district will be able to issue up to 500 internet hotspots with access through June 30, 2022 to applicants that apply at the following link: https://tinyurl.com/3spjux9p.
This link will be open through next Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 6:00 PM. School hotspot distribution events or deliveries will be organized following closure of the survey during the remainder of November. The week of November 8th will be a busy week for staff and students.. All students will be taught two lessons to learn about digital citizenship and rules of the iPad and laptop. iReady growth monitoring assessment will take place along with Veterans Day activities. The glitch in the JumpRope (grades K-5) welcome emails has been fixed. A welcome email has been sent to your child's K12 email address with login credentials. The username will be your child's full email address and the password will be your child's FULL student ID (WVEIS) number.
