Dear Students and Families of West Preston School -
As of tomorrow, I will no longer be the Principal of West Preston School. I will be starting a new chapter, as the Kindergarten through 8th Grade Curriculum Director for Preston County Schools. It has been an absolute honor to lead this incredible school and be part of this community these past 5 years. I am so proud of everything our West Preston team has accomplished together, and while I am excited for this new opportunity, I am so sad to be leaving. Luckily, I will still get to work with West Preston students and staff in my new job, and I will be working with the new West Preston school administration throughout the year to help this transition go as smoothly as possible. Mrs. Darcie Barno will be acting as Principal until an official replacement can be named. Please contact her with any concerns or requests. I will still be around for family engagement events, and I will continue working on several school projects that we've started. I hope to see you all at Bingo for Books on January 25! I will always be a West Preston Panther at heart. West is Best!

The WPS Middle School Fine Arts Showcase will be held tonight (Wednesday) from 7-8 pm in the WPS gymnasium and foyer. The showcase will begin with a performance by the 7th and 8th grade band and drumline. After the performance, families are invited into the foyer to view artwork from middle school students and enjoy cookies and hot chocolate. Please join us to celebrate our students and the holidays!
SCHOOL DAY BASKETBALL!
Tomorrow, all K - 8 West Preston students will get to watch our panthers take on Terra Alta in a school day basketball game! We will have very limited seating available for the public, so we can only allow parents and guardians of our athletes to attend (tickets sold at the door). However, Black and White Small Business Solutions will be live streaming both games! Our girls play at 9:00 am and our boys play at 10:30 am. Watch live at the link below.

There will be an informational meeting for all 7th grade girls who would like to tryout for junior princess, as well as 11th grade girls who would like to try-out for senior princess, and 11th grade boys who would like to be an escort or a king candidate for the 81st Buckwheat Festival. These meetings will take place on Monday, December 5th, Tuesday, December 6th and Wednesday December 7th, at 6:30 in the Mill Room of the KFVD Community Building. You must attend one of these meetings with a parent or guardian in order to try-out for junior princess, senior princess, escort or king candidate this year.

WPS Science Fair Info!!
Good afternoon Panther families. This message is for families of 5th grade students and 7th grade students who are participating in the Science and Engineering Fair.
Students may bring their project and abstract to school with them on Tuesday, December 6th to set up during school, or they may bring their project and abstract to school that evening between 3:00-5:00 pm. All projects MUST be accompanied by an abstract and should not contain the students' names or identifying photos.
Judging will occur on Wednesday, December 7th during the school day. Judging is closed to families. Students will tear down their project that afternoon and should plan on taking care of their board in case their project advances to the county level fair.
An awards ceremony for students will be held on Thursday, December 8th during the school day at 8:30 am. The ceremony will be live streamed for families to watch on our school webpage. Parents are also welcome to come watch the awards at school.
