Good evening. The TAEP XC season will start on July 31st. Coach Mary Hart and assistant coach Ashley Grose will be there at 5pm. Practice will follow after a brief meeting and end at 6:30pm. Anyone is welcome to come, but students in grades 6-8 can compete, with 5th graders running in Preston County meets. Please arrive at the school with running shoes, a bottle of water, and a completed physical. Practice will be Thursday morning, August 1st from 8am-9am. Run on your own over the weekend with group practices resuming August 5th at 5pm. We are excited for the season and want everyone to bring a friend and come out. XC is competitive itself, but is also super helpful for other sports by training in the off season. Contact Ashley Grose with any questions at 304-288-7961.

TAEP Families and Students: (From Mr. Justin Hough) It is with a heavy heart that I announce that this was my last school year leading our Eagle Family as your principal. I have accepted and been confirmed by the BOE as the new Director overseeing Child Nutrition and Testing Coordination. This decision did not come easily. Terra Alta has been my home away from home for 6 years now, and it has been a privilege to be able to be such a part of all of your lives. Thank you for welcoming me in with open arms, supporting me and all of our efforts here, but most importantly, for trusting the safety, care, well-being and education of your kids to my staff under my leadership. Saying it's been a privilege would be an understatement. This has been a chapter in my life that will forever hold a special place in my heart. I have loved your kids as my own, and at times, have missed out on some time with my two littles at home. That, as well as hoping to be a bigger part of the conversation as we move this county through difficult times, was a driving force in this decision. I will always think of Terra Alta as my second family, but it was time I made some decisions that supported my wife and my children. I will be here throughout the transition with whoever is selected as the next principal, as well as I plan to see our students as often as possible in my new roles. My only hope is that I've left this place in a better situation than I found it when I took over 6 years ago. That's always the goal. Again, thank you for trusting me and being such an important part of my life, growth and journey over the years. It's never goodbye Eagles. Preston County will forever be my home, and I will always take the time to check in on my Eagle family and support them in their efforts. I want to thank Mr. Martin and the BOE for trusting me, and I look forward to my continued work with Preston County Schools. I love you all. I will miss you. I'll never forget where I first learned to fly. Once an Eagle, ALWAYS an Eagle.
