Instructions for the Parent/Caregiver Survey
Below are the administration instructions for the Fall 2023 WV School Learning Environment Survey for parents or caregivers of students at:
South Preston School, Preston County (070-106).
The online parent survey will be available from October 2 through November 17, 2023.
Parents are asked to complete an online survey about school climate—the learning and teaching/working conditions—to help guide school improvement efforts. The results of this survey will be used to make changes in their child's school to ensure a supportive environment for teaching and learning. The survey may be completed from any computer with an internet connection.
Parent participation in the survey is very important. If parents have questions about the survey or problems completing the survey, they should contact their child's school. To protect parent/caregiver confidentiality, at least 10 parents must take the survey for results to be summarized for your school.
When parents log onto the survey, they will see explanatory information about the survey and the important information below as to their rights as a survey participant:
Your participation is voluntary. You may choose not to participate; not to answer any questions you do not want to answer; and you may stop participating at any time during the survey without penalty. Your responses will be anonymous and confidential.
Parents can access the survey at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WVSLES_P_F23
Parent login code: P070106

Due to the rain, we will be cancelling, then rescheduling today's 5th grade trip to Hovatter's Zoo. We are sorry for the late announcement.

This is for our 3rd and 4th grade parents: There was a mistake on the 3-4 field trip permission form. Parents are unfortunately not permitted to attend the Jackson's Mill trip. Jackson's Mill has set strict capacity limits, and we must follow their contract guidelines. We are sorry for the confusion and any inconvenience this may cause.

LSIC September 26th Guidelines Mr. Hoit went over policy HB206 in detail and the policy is available online if you google WVDE HB206. Pk-8 will do the McDonalds cards. Band will sell candy bars. Elementary will be doing one big fundraiser as a calendar sale. Middle school will do one big fundraiser TBD by student council/middle school instructors. Ideas for fundraiser -McGinnis suggested a walk-a-thon -Container wars for collecting loose change in the class in different containers to have a competition amongst different classrooms. -Asking a corporate sponsor for a donation day where certain percent of daily profits is donated. -Possible raffle Outside Signage -Mr hoit was thinking a sign maybe similar to BJ’s used cars, simple two post sign with LCD announcement board to inform and recognize contributors. -Possibly reaching out to local businesses to sponsor partial cost of sign: Wicked Wrenches, Davey, Dollar General, Chucks store, Funeral Home. These businesses will be targeted also during a special local business meeting TBD by Mr. Hoit. Concerns -ASE will be more student focused this year providing instructional support to students in areas of need. -We will be looking to add a Math and ELA Tudor with title one funds. -With the possible future closing of Fellowsville and/or Rowlesberg in years beyond the 2024-25 school year, we need to reassure parents, instructors, and the county that we have the capacity to handle these students if deemed necessary. -Mr. Hoit would like the students to be the face of the levy committee to voice to the public the need for funding. -We will have a fresh fruit and vegetable delivery to students who sign up Mrs. Jackie (cook/custodian) will oversee setting this up. -Around 40 students receive backpack meals and about 20 students get weekender bags from the local church. -There are some concerns about different dyes that may be in the backpack program food Mr. Hoit will investigate this. Leadership will meet every 2 weeks. Adjourn-McGinnis moves and patty 2nds.
