Attendance calls will begin Monday, February 5. Calls for students in grades K – 8 will go out at 12 pm if a student was marked absent for a full or half day. Calls for students grades 9 – 12 will go out at 5 pm if the student was marked absent at some point throughout the day (the call will include periods absent). Calls will come from the Preston County Schools automated calling system via the county’s phone number 304-329-0580 and will include the student’s first and last name and the school the student attends. Families who have opted out of calls will not receive these calls. Questions regarding student attendance issues should be directed to the student’s school of record.

The WVU Society of Women Engineers and the WVU Statler College Of Engineering will host a day camp for girls in grades K - 5 on Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 9 am - 2 pm on the Evansdale Campus of WVU. Registration is required to attend - online at: BIT.LY/GSD2024


Preston County Schools will hold PreK and kindergarten registration this Friday, January 26th from 9 am to 2 pm. Information concerning school locations for registration is provided on prestoncountyschools.com under menu, parents/students, enrollment. To register for PreK, the child must be 4 years old by July 1st (No Exceptions). To register for kindergarten, the child must be 5 years old by July 1st. Only NEW students need to register for kindergarten; if your child is currently enrolled in PreK you do not need to register.

Maintenance, mechanics, & custodians report on a regular schedule, & all other students & staff will report on a 2-hour delay. There are several bus runs that will be using alternative stops. Calls and texts will be sent out to each impacted run as they are known tonight.


All school-affiliated and community youth league athletic events scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday, January 20th have been postponed at all Preston County School locations.


Preston County Schools will be closed for tomorrow, Friday, January 19th. All students & most staff members do not report. Extended-contract, essential personnel will be contacted by Mr. Murray in the morning to check on building statuses. Personnel needing to pickup physical paychecks may get them at the Board Office from 8-9 AM. All scheduled extra-curricular activities are postponed, & the scheduled Pre-K & Kindergarten pre-registration events are postponed & will be rescheduled to next Friday, January 26th.


Deadline extended! Last Chance for Preston County Home School families to register their student to complete the yearly state test at their local school. Testing dates are available on the PCS website. Please share this information with Preston County home school families.

Here are a few updates: Our school level Social Studies Fair will be on Friday, January 19. If we are out Friday, the fair will be held on Wednesday, January 24. Parents can view projects at the end of the day. Also this Friday, PK-K registration is open, starting at 9:00 am. Math Field Day is now on the 23rd. Report cards will be sent home on January 24. Finally, LSIC will present to the BOE at South Preston Monday, January 22, at 5:00. The only agenda item is "Board presentation."

This is an update on extra-curricular activities this evening. The Boys' Varsity Basketball game between Preston High School and East Fairmont will proceed as scheduled. The PHS home wrestling match has been postponed until a later date. The scheduled game between West Preston and Westwood has been postponed as Mon County is out of school today. All other athletic teams are permitted to practice today. Individual coaches planning to practice today will be reaching out to parents and players.

Preston County Schools will be closed for tomorrow, Wednesday, January 17th & it will be a “Brain Freeze” Day. Students do not report. Maintenance, mechanics, & custodians report on a regular schedule, while all other staff reports on a 2-hour delay. Day-to-day substitute personnel should not to report unless they are specifically directed to do so. All schools will be open from 10 to 12 for students who require assistance. Resources on Brain Freeze can be found on the county and all school websites under the Live Feed section. Finally, the status on all afterschool activities will be announced tomorrow.
