Attention Kingwood Stags: Tomorrow, May 22nd, will be this year's Field Day Beach Party! Second, third, and fourth grade classes will participate from 9:00-11:30 while kindergarten and first grade classes will take place from 12:30-2:00. There will be a few water games, so please dress in clothes you don't mind getting wet. A change of clothes and towel for after your Field Day session is recommended. We look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow. It's time to celebrate a successful school year!

This is a reminder about Monday's PTA meeting at 6 p.m. We will be getting input from parents about the materials staff will be using to address students about the words and phrases we use when we are angry or frustrated. We will also be talking about why it's not a joke when we threaten harm to others. In order to prepare enough materials for everyone, please RSVP to Mrs. Zeigler, 304.692.9716.
The following is an update on after-school and other extracurricular activities. Little Learners is cancelled at all locations, there will be no athletic practices at Preston High School and the status of the girls' lacrosse game will be communicated by the coaching staff, at Central Preston track practice is cancelled and pitchers and catchers for the softball team will practice in the Gym from 4:30 - 5:30 PM, at Terra Alta / East Preston there will be no athletic practices, but the Book to Movie event will proceed at 5:30 PM in the gym, at Bruceton the track team will practice at the school from 4-5 PM and the status of softball practice will be communicated by the coaching staff, at West there will be no track practice and the softball team will practice in the gym at 5 PM, finally at Aurora there will be no practice sessions or events at the school.
Preston County Schools will be closed Wednesday, May 3rd & today will be a “Brain Freeze” Day. Students do not report; however, staff reports on a 2-hour delay. Bus drivers should contact the bus garage for any requirements. Sub personnel is not to report unless they are specifically directed to do so. All schools will be open from 10 AM to 12 PM for students who need help & lunches will be served from 11:30 AM to 1 PM. Administrative sessions with Karen Cagle, scheduled school data meetings, & the CTE Craft Committee Meeting will proceed as scheduled. The status on other extracurricular activities will be announced later today.

Third and fourth grade students at KES will be taking the GSA (state test) on May 8th, 9th, and 10th. To cheer our Stags on as they get ready to show what they know, we would like for them to receive a personalized message of encouragement on the "big day!"

We have had an increase in the number of students using verbal threats or physical aggression. While the threats have turned out to be empty threats, thus far, made in the heat of the moment, it is not acceptable.
We have found resources appropriate to educate each grade level, but we need our parents' support before we address our students.
