As we prepare to take time off from school November 25-29 for the Thanksgiving break, we are grateful for everyone who has helped to restore a routine for showing up to school while supporting students and families.
Students, don't let the winter blues affect your physical wellness and mind. Each month, December through March, we will be posting a monthly wellness challenge for students, along with a QR code and link to verify your participation. All students who participate will be placed into a drawing to win prizes in January, February, March and April. Prizes will be related to physical fun and announced later. Good luck and let's keep moving kids.
If you are seeing multiple of the same posts on school Facebook pages, we apologize as the system we are using was having both a lag yesterday and today in posting and duplicated some posts. Although not in school today due to the inclement weather, Preston County Schools, our staff and students, are always thankful for the amazing substitute teachers that have and continue to dedicate themselves to our students' educations. Thanks for being such a valued part of our team.
Preston County Schools will be closed tomorrow, Friday, November 22nd. Maintenance, Mechanics, and 240+ custodians report on schedule. All additional 240-day+ employees may report on a 2-hour delay. All other employees and students do not report and all scheduled extra-curricular activities are postponed.
Calendar updated and updated online to include 2, two-hour early outs on February 7th and May 9th as teacher work time towards progress reports and grading. As always, if we have more inclement weather days off, delays, or early-outs, this is always subject to change and will be communicated with advanced notice.
It's getting to be that time of year again. The WVDE affords us the opportunity, due to our extended length days at certain schools, to use that time to be able to have alterative learning days in the event of inclement weather. In Preston County, we call those Brain Freeze Days. Below, you will find the information you will need in the event one of these days are called. Any questions or concerns, please reach out to your child's teacher or building principal.
Plan accordingly and come out and support your 2024-2025 Lady Knights Basketball Team whether in county or on the road. Gonna be a great season. Good luck ladies. Time to get to work!
Menu Change:
Due to the anticipated weather forecast, the Thanksgiving School Meal originally on the menu for this Thursday the 21st, will now be served on Wednesday the 20th just in case there's any kind of schedule change. We want to ensure that all of our students have the opportunity to enjoy a nice Thanksgiving Meal prior to break.
The Mobile Ag Lab recently visited KES! This was an exciting learning opportunity for all students in grades PreK through 4. Here, students participated in hands-on science labs and learning experiments using everyday household items, including making glue from milk, extracting DNA from strawberries, and taking a closer look at the parts of a worm.
This message is for families that KES shares with CPMS. On Thursday, November 21, CPMS will complete an evacuation drill which will lead to afternoon dismissal from the Craig Civic Center. Due to the proximity of their alternate dismissal location and KES, please be advised that busses may arrive at the elementary school a little sooner than usual. Other than that, you should be able to retrieve your children from the Fireman’s Field as you would on a regular day.
Thanksgiving Break is quickly approaching, and we hope students are ready to show up and learn all day, every day next week! To make things fun, we've got a spirit week all planned out! Monday: PJ Day; Tuesday: Crazy Sock Day; Wednesday: Hat Day; Thursday: Match Your Class Day; Friday: Sweat Suit Day
