Preston County Schools is lucky to have the administrative teams at each of our schools, and this week, we join the rest of the nation in celebrating our Assistant Principals and Deans. We recognize the critical roles they play in fostering student success, supporting school staff, and fostering positive school cultures. Today and everyday, we say thank you to these "unsung heroes" of our schools who handle discipline, curriculum, and mentorship. Thank you Assistant Principals and Deans.

Bruceton beats Central 11-1 Landon H was dominant on the mound tonight. 5 IP 14ks 2 Hits. Broke his own school record tonight with 14 strikeouts previously 13 set by landon last year. Bruceton Bulldogs Baseball won thanks in part to seven runs in the first inning. Carter F doubled, scoring one run, Landon H singled, scoring one run, Candin W singled, scoring two runs, Kayvin R singled, scoring one run, Henry H grounded out, scoring one run, and Sam M singled, scoring one run. Carter F, Sam M, and Candin W each collected two hits for Bruceton Bulldogs Baseball. Carter F went 2-for-4 at the plate and led the team with three runs batted in. Jacob D led Bruceton Bulldogs Baseball with three walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, accumulating eight walks for the game. Jacob D, Kayvin R, Sam M, and Landon H each stole multiple bases for Bruceton Bulldogs Baseball. Bruceton Bulldogs Baseball stole 12 bases in the game. No fooling around today, at least when it comes to recognizing our Paraprofessionals. Paraprofessional Appreciation Day is observed annually on the first Wednesday of April. Today and everyday, we honor paraprofessional educators, who may also be known as paras, instructional assistants, or teacher aides. Paraprofessionals perform a variety of teaching-related jobs and often assist teachers in classrooms.

Paras may work with students on supplemental enrichment activities, either in small groups or one-on-one. They may also help students complete assignments or practice reading. Paraprofessionals often work with students with special education needs and a variety of disabilities. They may also supervise students outside of classrooms and help teachers with clerical work.

Paraprofessionals work tirelessly each day to support students & teachers, so today we honor them for their service.

Next month begins statewide testing across WV, beginning with our 11th Graders on SAT School Day on the 14th, then our students who take the Alternative State Assessment (WVASA or DLM), with that window opening on April 13th. Attached are letters from Superintendent of WV Schools, Michelle Blatt, on each of those tests outlined:

Boys Highlights:
• Tyler Parks: 2nd in the 800m with a SCHOOL RECORD of 2:20! Also placed 7th in the 400m and High Jump. 🏃‍♂️🥈
• Noah Belanger: 1st in the 200m and 2nd in the 100m — keep that speed up! 🥇🥈
• Boys 4x100m Relay: 5th place — Shawn Lyons, Landon Robinson, Enzo Richards, and Noah Belanger gave a great effort. 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️🏃‍♂️
• Eli Parker: 6th in the 1600m with a nice personal best. 🎯
• Silas Ringer: 15th in Boys Discus. 💪

Girls highlights:
• Kelsey Jenkins: 7th in the 100m Hurdles; Mila Pedicord 10th. 🏃‍♀️
• Kylie Frankhouser: 8th in Discus and 11th in Shot Put. 🥏
• Brooke Smith: 14th in the 800m with a personal best and 13th in the 1600m. 🌟
• Grace Losh: 16th in the 800m with a personal best right behind Brooke. 👏

The team is back in action Monday, April 6 for Preston Meet #2.

Archer T collected three hits in four at bats, as Bruceton Bulldogs Baseball defeated West Greene Middle School 12-9 on Monday. Archer T singled in the third inning, singled in the fourth inning, and singled in the sixth inning. Bruceton Bulldogs Baseball came back to win despite trailing 5-0 in the third. Bruceton Bulldogs Baseball scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the third inning. Archer T singled, scoring two runs, Colton S doubled, scoring two runs, and Kayvin R doubled, scoring one run. In the bottom of the fourth, Bruceton Bulldogs Baseball broke up the tie when Archer T singled, scoring one run. Then a single by Colton S followed to extend the lead to 8-5. Carter Foreman started on the bump for Bruceton Bulldogs Baseball. The starting pitcher surrendered two hits and one earned over four innings, striking out four and walking four. Kayvin Rodeheaver went 2.2 IP in relief with five strikeouts. Colton shisler came in to pitch in the bottom of the 7th with 2 outs and struck out the batter to win the game. Bruceton Bulldogs Baseball amassed 13 hits in the game. Colton S went 2-for-3 at the plate and led the team with four runs batted in. Kayvin R and Landon H each collected multiple hits for Bruceton Bulldogs Baseball. Candin W paced Bruceton Bulldogs Baseball with three walks. Congratulations to our middle school Bulldog Elite students for the 3rd 9 week grading period. These students earned a 3.8 or higher for the grading term.

Congratulations to our Bulldog 7th and 8th grade band! They earned a superior rating at Region 10 Band Festival today! The band had to play two songs in front of a panel of judges comprised of collegiate music professors.
