Are you ready for some football?

This week, a second group of students were introduced to the culinary world as they participated in Summer Culinary Camp. Like the first group, their experience culminated with them running their own Taco Shop today. Proud of these kids and their efforts and thankful for such great instructors.

Summer Band and Sports Shuttles

Terra Alta Youth Football and Cheer camp/signups will be held July 28th-August 1st from 6-8 pm. This is for Ages 5-12. Please see the Terra Alta Youth Football Facebook page for more details.

The Preston County Youth Football League will be holding camp and signups July 21st-25th from 6-8 pm at the West Preston and Bruceton Fields. Please watch Facebook for West Preston updates and contact Patty at 304-698-3653 for any questions about Bruceton signups.

Reminder. Anyone interested in playing squires, middle school soccer this fall, there is a meeting at 5:30 today at the PHS turf field for both girls and boys. A parent must accompany the player. Also, the girls will be holding a flex practice after the meeting. Please have a water source.

Preston County Schools will be offering a Bus Driver Class beginning on July 28th. This position offers summers off, flexible hours, family medical, dental and vision insurance, and a retirement plan for full -time employment. – No High School diploma required. Employee Dental/Vision Insurance Information for SY 25-26

Attention all students in grades 6th, 7th, and 8th grade who are interested in playing middle school soccer, there will be an informational meeting on Wednesday July 16th at 5:30PM at the Preston High School's turf field. Anyone interested in playing should attend with at least one parent or guardian. After the meeting the girls will stay for a flex practice. See you there!

This week, 5th-8th grade students in the county had the opportunity to participate in a culinary camp. Students learned basic culinary and service skills, and even opened their own Taco Eatery on Thursday, inviting staff for lunch service. Thanks to all staff involved in the week, and thanks to these great students for their good work.

The legislative changes to the child labor laws took affect today, Friday July 11th. As of today, all child labor forms will be called age certificates as the phrase "work permit" has been removed from the law. 14 an 15 year old's are required to have an age certificate to work, but they will remain optional for 16 and 17 year old's. In addition, all certificates must be issued by the Commissioner of Labor or their authorized representative as of that date.

You can access the new forms that will need to be used at the links below. After Section C for 14 and 15, and Section A for 16 and 17 has been completed, the forms will need to be submitted so that the certificate can be issued. A copy of the child's birth certificate will need to be included. They will accept a scanned copy of the birth certificate so that the permits can continue to be submitted electronically.

Tired of hearing the dreaded "B-Word" from your kiddos this summer break? No need to reinvent the wheel to find solutions and answers. The internet is full of ideas to help combat the boredom blues, many activities at no cost and using resources already in and around your homes. Summer Bingo is just one of those ideas that adds a little friendly competition that could just be that needed boost.

Any West Preston 6th, 7th, or 8th grade student who is interested in playing girls volleyball this fall, there will be a parent meeting with practice immediately following on July 14, 2025 at 5 PM at West Preston School.
