Preston County Schools is in great need for an athletic trainer for the 2024-25 football season. Preference will be given to a certified athletic trainer. However, the district may also assist individuals with a medical background including: chiropractor, physical therapist, registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, physician’s assistant, paramedic, or emergency medical technician to obtain a limited football trainer authorization which will meet the requirements.
The individual would have to be present at all scheduled practice sessions and Varsity games as well as home JV games. This position is required and practices and games may not occur in the absence of a trainer. Interested applicants may apply on the Preston County Schools website. Preston County Schools is working to assess potential student interest in a middle school soccer program for students that will be in the 6th, 7th, & 8th grade for the coming academic year. Attention to all those interested or curious in joining the Preston County Unified Middle School football team, the parent/player meeting this upcoming Wednesday, June 26 is now from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, and will be held at the Kingwood Pool.
There will also be pizza and refreshments provided, as well as lifeguards to oversee safety. Please feel free to bring pool toys or other refreshments and amenities. No glass bottles or containers please.

Preston High School will hold its first football practice this coming Monday, June 10th at 5 pm. Any interested upcoming freshman through seniors are welcome. Parents & students must park by the bus garage and walk around to the field due to parking lot painting and sealing.

Parent/Guardians, It is that time of year again when the West Virginia Secondary Schools Activity Commission (WVSSAC) requires an athletic participation form be completed by parents and physicians for any middle or high school student participating in athletics or band. To help you meet this requirement, Preston County Schools have partnered with Mon Health to provide this service. Parents/Guardians of 7th & 12th graders: Your child will be required to have immunizations completed before returning to school this fall. There is not a grace period and they will not be allowed to enter school without these immunizations. For seniors they need proof of a TDAP and their second Meningitis/MCV4 vaccine that must be given after the age of 16. For 7th graders they need proof of a TDAP, and their first Meningitis/MCV4 vaccine. You can visit our webpage to view the vaccine requirement chart if you have questions.
Public Service Announcement: Mountaineer Food Bank Mobile Pantry will distribute at the Civic Center on Tuesday, June 11th from 11 am to 12:30 pm while supplies last.
There will be an organizational meeting for those students who would like to be part of the Preston High Cross Country team. The meeting will be in the PHS Media Center on Wednesday, June 5th at 7 p.m. Parents are welcome and there will be a group run after the meeting.
PCS Employees, for the remainder of this week June 4-7 weather permitting we will be sealing the parking lots/roads at PHS/BOE complex. For Tuesday & Wednesday you will need to park in front of PHS and enter through connector doors to access BOE. All training will still occur at BOE. Be advised the road from intersection around the bus garage to back of PHS will be blocked. Thank you for your cooperation.
The PCS Board of Education recognized this year's Preston County Golden Horseshoe winners on Tuesday, May 28th for their outstanding work: Jacob Smith-Tatham, Brianna Watkinson, & Kaiden Rankin received certificates and congratulations from the BOE (not pictured - Sarah Dew).
