Additional Class Scheduling Announced

This is Mr. Seymour, principal at Preston High School. Due to a number of factors, we will be moving to an 8-period schedule next year. That means ALL 9th – 11th grade students need to pick an 8th class for their schedule. They will do this in advisory on Monday, April 24th. Between now and Monday, please look over the course catalog that was posted in Schoology Thursday, April 20th and students should be ready with their choice on Monday. If they do not remember their 7 courses and alternates, they can check with their advisory teacher and they will let them know.

If they choose one of their alternates for their 8th class, they will need to choose another alternate. If they have any questions, please have them see their advisory teacher first, and if they are unable to answer their questions, have them contact their counselor. I encourage all students to rethink choosing Fine Arts, CTE, and AP/Dual credit classes. We’ve also added a Fundamentals of Broadcasting class.

I know a lot of students were not able to request some of those classes because of the 7-period schedule but now they should have room for those classes. In rethinking this, I know this may also change their 7th class selected and if it does, please have their teacher note that on the sheet I give the teachers.

To summarize, students need to have 8 classes and 2 alternates for next year.

Please discuss this with your student.
