Good morning. We are still celebrating National School Counseling Week. Because our theme is “Standards-Based, Student-Focused,” I want to talk to you about how the school counselor stays focused on each of you – even in a school of many students. Do you know why she tries to greet you by name each day? She wants to get a sense of how you’re feeling and she also wants you to feel warmly welcomed to school. But when she is in her office, she is learning about you. She looks at lots of school data that tells her how all of the students are doing. She looks at grades, at your attendance, your extracurricular choices and your achievements. When Mrs. Durst knows what makes you YOU, she knows how she can best help you. Is there anything you think she should know about you? Are you struggling with something or is there a success you’d like to share? Come see Mrs. Durst. She is here to listen to you. Remember, tomorrow is “You are Marvelous as you follow your dreams” day. Your School Counselor Marvels at your bright future, so wear a superhero shirt!
