Preston County Schools will be closed for today, Tuesday, January 16th & today will be a “Brain Freeze” Day. Students do not report, while staff reports on a 2-hour delay. Day-to-day substitute personnel should not to report unless they are specifically directed to do so. All schools will be open from 10 to 12 for students who require assistance. Teachers requesting substitutes for math field day tomorrow need to adjust the request to the revised date.
Today, Friday, January 12th is the end of the term 2 grading period; however, finalized grades will now be due Friday, January 19th with report cards sent home with students on Wednesday, January 24th.
The county science fair public viewing will take place today at the KVFD community building from 5 - 7 pm with awards live streaming at 7 pm from the link on the Preston County Schools website or by accessing http://tinyurl.com/PCSLivestream
We will be scheduling for high school classes next month on February 13th with 8th grade students and their parents if they are able to attend. The high school counselors will be coming to Aurora School that afternoon and will help each individual student sign up for their classes for freshmen year. There will be lunch provided for parents at 12pm and then we will schedule with students after lunch. Each student will bring home his/her selected courses that day and will need their parent to review their schedule and have both their signature and their parent signature on the form. Please turn the signed form back into the school by Tuesday, February 20th.

Based on the trending weather this week and the weather prognosis next week, the scheduled two-hour delay on Friday, January 12th has been postponed and Friday will now be a full academic day. In addition, setup for the County Science Fair will be rescheduled from tonight to Thursday, January 11th from 4:00 to 6:30 PM. The County Science Fair will now take place during the academic day on Friday, January 12th, with public viewing of projects from 5-7 PM and awards beginning at 7:00 PM. The awards ceremony will be livestreamed. Finally, based on the missed academic time this week, we plan to extend the report card issuance date past January 22nd and will announce the extended date next week.

Setup for the County Science Fair that was scheduled for tonight has been rescheduled to tomorrow, Wednesday, January 10th from 4:00-6:30 PM at the Kingwood Community Building. The County Science Fair will now take place on Thursday, January 11th at the Kingwood Community Building with student presentations taking place during the academic day on Thursday. Public viewing of projects will take place from 5-7 PM on Thursday with an awards ceremony beginning at 7 PM. The awards ceremony is planned to be live streamed on the Preston County Schools website.
